Pengetahuan Ibu Tentang Penyakit Demam Berdarah Dengue di Puskesmas Helvetia Medan Tahun 2016
Background : Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus and transmitted through mosquito bites. Dengue isn’t a new disease, but the incidence and high mortality rate makes this disease one of the most contagious disease that poses a health problem in the community. Mother, who has a very big role in the care of the household, should have enough knowledge about dengue disease. So that children, families and the environment can be protected from the risk of contracting dengue disease.
Methods : This was a descriptive study with cross sectional approach. Subjects were all mothers who have children who come to the Helvetia Public Health Center Medan, using quota sampling as many as 75 respondents. Data were analyzed using Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) for Windows.
Results : The knowledge levelbased on the characteristics of age, occupation and education.For the good knowledge level (91%), most respondents at the age of 19-25 years and above 53 years, were a housewife, and the final education were primary school, senior high school and in college. For the sufficient knowledge level (9%), most respondents at the age of 40-46 years, were a career mom and the final education were senior high school.
Conclusion : The level of mother’s knowledge at Helvetia Public Health Centers Medan categorized as good (91%).
