Abstract

Central obesity is a fat accumulation condition in the abdominal region. The incidence of central obesity is increasing worldwide. This circumstance is affected by triglyceride levels which are a form of fat storage in the body. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between triglyceride levels and waist circumference in central obesity. The method used in this research was a cross-sectional study with consecutive sampling was conducted on 22 adults with central obesity, comprising 16 women and 6 men. Waist circumference was measured at the level of the umbilicus and triglyceride levels were examined after at least 8 hours fasting. The coefficient of correlation was obtained by the Pearson test. This research showed there was a strong positive and significant correlation between triglyceride levels and waist circumference in patients with central obesity (r = 0.729, p<0.05).Triglyceride level was strongly positive and significantly associated with waist circumference in central obesity.
