PENINGKATAN PERTUMBUHAN DAN HASIL TANAMAN JAGUNG MANIS (Zea mays saccharta Sturt) MELALUI PEMBERIAN KOMPOS LAMTORO DAN PUPUK HAYATI MIKORIZA PADA LAHAN KERING
The characteristics of dry land are high content of aluminum and low availability of N and P element are the important limiting factors for crop production. Hence, important efforts on management of dry land are increasing N and P availability for crop demand. Available nutrient on soil must influence on organic substrate, because organic substrat can repairing of soil. Organic content in soil was decrease for a long time, it cansolution with given organic fertilizer. This research used organic fertilizer as lamtoro compost and mycorrhizal biofertilizerwith application on sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt)plant. Main research is understand the influence of lamtoro compost fertilizer and mycorrhizal biofertilizer are source of organic matter used to increasing of growth and yield of sweet corn on dry land. The study was conducted in Agricultural Garden of Ujung Bandar Village, Pancur Batu Sub-district, Deli Serdang Regency, in 2016.This research uses factorial randomizedblock design with two factors: compost lamtoro (P) consisting of 4 levels : 0.5 kg/plot, 1 kg/plot, 1.5 kg/plot, and 2 kg/plot. The second factor is mycorrhizal (M), which consists of 3 levels: 5g, 8g and 11g for each plant and with three replicates. The parameters focus on plant height, the number of leaves, leaf area, cob length,cob weight with cornhusk/plot, cob weight without cornhusk/plot. The result showed that the interaction of fertilizer lamtoro compost and mycorrhizal biofertilizer and the main factor mycorrhizal there is no real effect to all the parameters, whereas the main factor ofcompost lamtoro significantly increased the number of leaf and cob weight with cornhusk/plot but no significant effect on plant height, leaf area, cob length,and cob weight without cornhusk/plot. The application of lamtoro compost 2kg/plant can increase the weights of cob with cornhusk/plot as 4,9% than 0.5 kg lamtoro compost/plot.Results of the experiment also showed that the application of lamtoro compost and mycorrhizal biofertilizer significantlyincreased soil pH, increased N and P availability.
